Chaise longue
Designed by Kenneth Bergenblad
The timeless "Spider" chaise longue is an extraordinary contrast and, at the same time, a balance of materials and shapes. This is one of the most recognizable designs of Bergenblad. The inspiration for the designer was a spider, especially its legs. And indeed, the structure of the chaise longue was made of six thin metal legs made of stainless steel, connected with each other with an additional rods like a spider's web. This industrial part sup- ports the seat made of ten soft modules, reupholstered in a beautiful boucle fabric.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Kenneth Bergenblad was born in Sweden in 1944, as the son of a sculptor and artist. His adventure with the world of design began in his teen, where he studied cabinetmaking, completing his apprenticeship in 1965 before going on to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He trained at the furniture carpentry school of architect Swebilius in Gotland and in Carl Malmsten's Capellagården in Öland.
Between 1970 and 1993 he worked as both a designer and interior designer at DUX, where he created the internationally acclaimed Spider chaise longue and lounge chair. Known for his elegant and modern design, combining the functional with the experimental, Bergenblad balances shapes, colours and materials into pieces that feel timeless.
His work has won numerous accolades around the world, including The Guldlampen Nordisk Design prize for Wing. Today he works from his farmhouse home in southern Sweden, continuing to create designs that sur- prise and delight.
